DOTC hosts several events throughout the year, including AKC FIT Dog Pack walks, Egg Hunts for dogs, CGC/A/U and Trick Dog testing. Members also walk in the annual Lynchburg Christmas Parade.
We plan to host a yearly training seminar each June and host well known instructors to share their knowledge with handler teams in various dog sports.
Dogs participating in an Easter themed Fit Walk with hidden, treat filled eggs to find along the way! The dogs picked up on this quickly and enjoyed the game!
In June 2026 we hosted Jean Owen for a weekend seminar that focused on putting the FUN back into Obedience and Rally training, along with tips and trick to increase the scores.
DOTC hosts CGC/A/U and AKC Trick Testing at various times during the year. We have Trick Testing planned for August Potluck Open Meeting, and CGC/A/U testing planned for this fall.
DOTC members walk in the local, Lynchburg Christmas Parade. We decorate a float and dogs with agility training get to perform for the crowd at certain stops along the way! Any dog who knows a trick may perform it or the crowd as well, or they can just walk and enjoy the parade. This event also counts as an AKC FIT Walk.
DOTC Haunted House is a fun way for handler teams to test their dog's ability to work around distractions...a lot of distractions! In a fun and festive way.
This has also been used to educate owners on how to identify stress responses in their dogs.
