Continuing Foundations​

​​Welcome to Level 2 Obedience! This core foundational class is designed to formalize your dog's training behaviors, giving you both the best paw forward for whatever your future goals may be.

Do you hope to compete in Rally or Competitive Obedience one day? Are you dreaming of a stellar companion in public and want to train for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC/CGCA/CGCU) tests? Or do you have goals of passing a therapy dog evaluation? Every single one of these paths starts right here. Level 2 takes the core behaviors and basic manners your dog learned in Level 1 and takes them to the next level by building real-world reliability and precision.

In this course, we focus on:

• Proofing Under Distraction: Increasing both distance and duration for steadfast reliability.

• Formalizing Heel Position: Refining precision positioning, building focus while in motion, and practicing automatic sits.

• Dynamic Movement Exercises: Introducing directional changes, speed changes, and advanced handling skills.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1 Obedience, or completion of training classes from other local dog trainers.

Joining us with previous training experience? If your dog has already completed basic obedience elsewhere, jumping into Level 2 is the perfect next step! Level 2 serves as our required prerequisite for all upper-level courses (such as CGC, Rally, and Competitive Obedience). This foundational class allows us to assess your teamwork, identify and patch up any hidden gaps in your dog's core training, and custom-tailor a plan to prepare your team for the higher-level goals you want to achieve.
