Star Puppy Class
Star Puppy class is an 8 week class that follows the model of the AKC Star Puppy program.
Puppies will work on the following things during class:
Puppy Push Ups : Sits and Downs
Relaxed downs for impulse control
Introduction to loose leash walking
Attention games such as "choose me" and "look at that"
Coming when called from 5 feet away (or more)
Using toys in training, and give/take a toy away
Impulse control games such as "one for me one for you" with an introduction to "leave it"
Accepting handling (lifting legs and examining paws)
Walks on leash five feet away from other people/puppies
Puppies will also experience training outside the building and practicing their relaxed downs, puppy push ups, and attention games during baseball practices and the outdoor environment.
At the completion of the class set, Star Puppies who attend 6 classes and pass the AKC Star Puppy requirements will receive a Star Puppy ribbon and certificate. They will also put their skills to the test on the last day of class by helping their owns create a piece of Paw Print Art.
